This is YOUR Year

Book-in-a-Day Series
So this year is off and running and with it, I'm on a journey to create 52 books in a year. I know!!! It's crazy. It's insane. It's going to be an amazing ride. I'm not one for making resolutions, but I do have a habit of coming up with crazy ideas. This is one of those times.

The "BOOK-IN-A-DAY" series will include videos of me making handmade books from scratch. Each week, I'll document my process of making a book in ONE DAY. Yep! ONE DAY!

I'll post the videos to my YouTube channel, to this blog, and to the Giving Hands Creative Community site.

Here's the book that inspired this crazy idea:

Title: This is Your Year
Description: A hand sewn blank book with one signature (grouping of pages). The cover is watercolor paper decorated with a variety of media (mixed media). The book is set up like a diary or date book with the months marking each page. I'm hoping to use it as a way to chronicle my Book-In-A-Day journey.

This book started as an art journal page, but somehow it morphed into a book without my realizing it. Here are a few photos of the "morphing":

And because of this experience, I'm on this wonderful journey to create 52 books this year. I'm excited about the possibilities. I'm also hoping that I can share book art with folks who may not have access to it. This will be informal and fun. My ultimate goal is to make books that I'm proud of while using materials that are easy to come by. I'm going to try to keep it simple and create books that can actually be completed in one day.

I'm defining "one day" to mean from the time I wake until I can't hold my eyes open any longer. I'm a night owl who lives with a morning person, so that gives me a lot more time in "one day" than most people. :-).

If you want to join me on this adventure, please head over to the Giving Hands Creative Community and join for FREE. I'll post photos, videos, and all sorts of goodies there. AND, if you are planning to take the challenge, I'll have a place for you to post your photos too. Other ways to come along for this crazy ride:
